     Joseph was born in Farmington, Hartford County, Connecticut. He was christened there on 31 December 1693 in First Church of Christ.2 Joseph married Martha Denny on 18 July 1734 in Farmington, Hartford County, Connecticut. Joseph & Martha had children: Joseph [7/01/1736-8/07/1806], Elisha [1738-sickness in French & Indian War], Martha [8/04/1740][m. 8/05/1761 Jeremiah Howe], Rebecca [4/24/1743-10/08/1825][m. 9/16/1762 Elisha Yale]. The family moved to Goshen, Connecticut in the spring of 1744, buying land there at that time. The land became the home lot for his family and his descendants. Joseph departed this life on Monday, 26 November 1781 in Goshen. He was buried there in East Street Cemetery. The inscription on his tombstone reads: In Memory of Mr. Joseph North he died November 26 1781 AE 89.3
