On 20 May 1616, he was christened in Oulton in the Parish of Southwold, County Suffolk, England, at the Anglican Church.. On 24 July 1635, Thomas left London, aboard the ship, "Assurance", under the command of Captain Isack Bromwell, enroute for Virginia. Before being permitted to board, he had to present a certificate showing his examination by the minister of Gravesend, County Essex.. Among the passengers were John Budd aged 15 years, Thomas More aged 19 years & John More aged 28 years..
