Beatrix de was born in Chestershire, England. Beatrix de married William le Belward de Malpas, son of William le Belward and Mabillia fitz Hugh de Malpas, in Chestershire, England. She was co-heir of her father, Hugh Kivilioc, the 5th Earl of Chester.
Additional Notes: It needs to be noted at this juncture, that Beatrix de Montalt is shown as the wife of William le Belward de Malpas. The pedigrees and genealogies that we have seen that include Beatrix have her married to William, the eldest son of Sir David son of the first William mentioned here. In Burke’s Extinct Baronages, Beatrix is shown as being the wife of a William Malpas and that they have as their second son a Robert and a youngest son, Richard, who is associated with the Manor of Duckenton. This of course would be the William son of William and Mabillia. William’s wife has been reported to be either Beatrix the sister of Hugh Kevelioc or Tanglust the “natural daughter” of the same Hugh. It has also been seen Beatrix with a surname of Kevelioc, which would make her another daughter of Hugh. Our research has shown Hugh to have a “natural daughter” Amice, but no daughters by the names of Tanglust or Beatrix, natural or otherwise. In any case these women would all be more than 40 years younger than William. Beatrix de Montalt on the otherhand, would be very close in age to William and at the very least in his own generation. She was the daughter of a Baron in a neighboring Palatinate county and would have been an appropriate wife for William. Unfortunately, we are afraid that these women were chosen because they would help explain the information found in the records of Malpas. [KLM]
