Marie-Jeanne Moral

     Marie-Jeanne was born circa 1653 in Trois-Rivieres, Quebec, Canada. A contract for the marriage of Marie-Jeanne & Jacques Maugras was signed on 20 November 1668. It was drawn up by notary Severin Ameau. It notes he was from Ligny-le-Chasteau, Bourgogne & his parents: Claude Mogras & Francoise Flaugny. It notes she was daughter of Quentin Moral de St-Quentin & Marie Marguerie..¹ Jacques & Marie-Jeanne had children: Marie-Jeanne [1670][m. 1/08/1690 Pierre Gamelin dit Chateauvieux], Marie-Francoise [5/01/1673-5/26/1673], Marguerite [8/22/1674-9/28/1746][m. Jean Baptiste Gamelin dit Launiere], Jacques [8/05/1679-10/06/1679], Marie-Josephe [7/07/1782-11/09/1684], Marie-Madeleine [10/19/1685-12/11/1740][m. 1/07/1726 Julien Perrault dit Rochefort], Gertrude [12/24/1686-1/14/1774][m. 5/03/1705 Pierre Couturier dit Labonte] & Marie-Francoise [9/25/1688-9/28/1688].² 1681, Marie-Jeanne and her husband, Jacques, were listed on the Canadian Census in St-Francois-du-Lac, Yamaska County, Quebec, Canada. Enumerated in this household were Jacques Maugras [42 years], his wife: Jeanne Moral [29 years], Marie [12 years], Marguerite [2 years] & Robert Maxime [32 years].³ Marie-Jeanne's husband, Jacques, died on 27 March 1690 in Salmon Falls, New Brunswick, Canada, leaving her a widow. Marie-Jeanne married 2nd Gilles Couturier in 1691 in Trois-Rivieres.⁴ Marie-Jeanne departed this life in 1714 in St-Francois-du-Lac, Yamaska County, Quebec, Canada.
