Samuel was born on Saturday, 29 January 1656 in Cambridge, Middlesex County, Massachusetts. He was the son of Samuel Andrews and Elizabeth White. Samuel married Abigail Treat, daughter of Robert Treat and Jane Tapp, in 1686 in Milford. Samuel and Abigail had children: Abigail [1/29/1686-9/25/1724] [m. 8/01/1706 Jonathan Law], Samuel [9/00/1688-4/26/1728] [m. 12/09/1719 Eunice Hall], Elizabeth 6/00/1690-9/12/1771] [m. 1710 Timothy Cutler], Jane [1699-2/15/1778] [m. 1729 Andrew Durand], Jonathan [8/24/1701-9/01/1738/39] [m. 1/05/1726/27 Elizabeth Smith] & Hannah [11/17/1704-1754] [m. 1726 John Woodruff].1 Samuel departed this life on Friday, 24 January 1738 in Milford at age 81 years, 11 months and 26 days. He was buried there in Milford Cemetery. The inscription on his tombstone reads: Here lyes ye Body of ye Rev. & Learned| Mr SAMUEL ANDREW. Pastor of ye Church of Christ in this Place for above 50 Years: formerly Fellow of Harvard College, & more lately Rector of Yale College: a singular Ornament & Blessin in every Capacity & Relation of Exemplary Holiness & unwearyed Labors. Modest, Courteous & Beneficent; never fond of this World, earnestly pursuing & recommending a Better, greatly esteemed in Life, & Lamented at Death: which was Janr 24th AD. 1737/8 lacking 5 Days to compleat 82 Years of Life.1
