Johannes De La Montagne1,2

M, b. circa 1595
Johannes De La was born circa 1595 in Leyden, South Holland, Netherlands. Johannes married Rachael De Forest, daughter of Jesse De Forest and Maria Du Cloux, circa 1626 in Holland, Netherlands. Johannes was 31 years at the time of his marriage. Johannes and Rachel emigrated from Leyden to Tobago soon after their marriage. Rachel returned to Holland in 1631 and Johannes was back permanently in 1636. It is not known if he came back before or if he was traveling back and forth. The couple were separated for some time and makes questionable the birth dates of the children born in that time period. Johannes and family arrived in New York in the spring of 1637. In 1637, the family were living in New Haerlem, Westchester County, New York. They were members of the Dutch Reformed Church. He was a doctor. Johannes's wife, Rachael, died in 1641 in New Haerlem, Westchester County, New York, leaving him a widower. Johannes married Annetje Gillis Ten Waert in September 1647 in New York.
