Thomas Metcalf

     Thomas was born on Saturday, 29 December 1629 in Norwich, County Norfolk, England. He was the son of Michael Metcalf and Sarah Elwyn. He was christened there on 11 January 1630 in the parish of St. Edmund.¹ He was first married to Sarah Pidgeon the 12th day of the 7th month 1656 in Dedham. The family then settled there in Dedham where Sarah died leaving him a widower. Thomas married 2nd Ann Chickering, daughter of Francis Chickering and Ann Fiske, on 2 December 1679 in Rehoboth, Bristol County, Massachusetts. Thomas's wife, Ann, died on 1 January 1687 in Dedham leaving him a widower. He married third Mehitable Hand, widow of John Savel, on 22 January 1689. Thomas departed this life on Thursday, 16 November 1702 in Dedham at age 72 years, 10 months and 18 days. He was buried there in the Old Village Cemetery.
