Jeanne Mercier

Jeanne was born in Brie-sous-Matha, Saintonge, Poitou, France. She was christened there on 18 March 1640 in St-Pierre Church.1 Jeanne married Michel Maillou, son of Jacques Maillou and Jeanne Arnaud, on 9 February 1659 in Brie-sous-Matha at St-Pierre Church.2 1681, Jeanne and her husband, Michel, were listed on the Canadian Census in St-Michel-de-Bellechasse, La Durantaye, Bellechasse County, Quebec, Canada. Enumerated in this household were Michael Maillou [40 years], Jeanne Mercier [45 years], Jeanne [7 years], Marie [5 years], Henriette [3 years] & Francoise [14 months].3 Jeanne departed this life between 16 November 1699 and 3 September 1702 in Quebec, Canada. She was living at the time of the marriage of her daughter Marie Anne and was deceased at the time of her husband's remarriage.
