Richard Maltbie

     Richard was born before 24 February 1592/93 in Springthorpe, Lincolnshire, England. On 24 February 1592/93, he was christened in Springthorpe, Lincolnshire, England, at St. George and St. Lawrence Church.1 He was the son of John Maltbie and Margaret Bishop. According to his father's will, he left him his massuage in Springthorpe, Lincolnshire that he has inherited from his father. He also left him land called Fisher's Garth. Richard married Sarah Hornby on 16 July 1618 in Springthorpe at St. George and St. Lawrence Church.2 Richard & Sarah had children: Richard, Sarah, Margaret & Mary. Richard made his will on 22 April 1638 at Springthorpe, Lincolnshire, England.

He leaves his son Richard messuage wherein he dwells, 2 cottages, three acres in Springthorpe, long Moore, a half acre in Upper Gresble, all in Springthorpe, Sturgate and Little Coring (Corringham.) To son William a messuage purchased of William Ha???rd of Hamberstone. gent. ldest daughter Sarah 10 (pounds). To daughter Margaret Maltbie a messuage in East Retford (Nottinghamshire) in tenure of William Stronghormes and Robert Sweaton and 100 marks to be paid at 21. Daughter Mary Maultby 100 (pounds) at 21. Each man servant 3/4. Sarah Sheriff 3/4. Witnesses: William Hornbe, John Rodes, Robert Marshall. Proved in Perogative Court of Canterbury 10 Nov. 1638 by Sarah Maltby the relict and Exex.3

Richard departed this life in Springthorpe. His will was probated on 10 November 1638.
