     Enos was born in Blooming Grove, Orange County, New York. He was christened there on 7 January 1761 in ther First Presbyterian Church. He was the son of Samuel Mapes and Mary Smith. Enos married Irena Vail, daughter of Isaiah Vail and Abigail Meeker, on 26 March 1783 in Goshen, Orange County, New York, at the First Presbyterian Church. 1783, March 27 - Enos Mapes & Irene Vail.2 Enos was a farmer. He settled the "Mile Square" tract which he helped his father to clear from the wilderness. He was one of the executors of his father's estate.
