Abigail Leggett

     Abigail was born the 31th day of the 8th month 1769 in West Farms, Westchester County, New York. She was the daughter of Thomas Leggett and Mary Embree. Abigail married Thomas Wilbur in 1790 in New York. Thomas and Abigail had children: Abigail [4/01/1791-1/11/1877] [3/01/1810 Samuel Griffin], Ruth [7/03/1794-5/29/1890] [m. 12/19/1816 Barnabus Wing], Jonathan [8/01/1796-6/03/1823], Eunice [1/06/1800-5/06/1868] [m. John M. Wilcox], Thomas [12/17/1805-9/27/1883] [m. Sarah Ann Townsend & 2nd. Angeline Davis], Elias H. [8/19/1808-12/16/1883] [m. 10/16/1837 Lydia Barker], Naomi [9/06/1811-8/02/1863] [m. 8/17/1840 Daniel Leggett].1 Abigail's husband, Thomas, died on 9 September 1832 in Quaker Springs, Saratoga County, New York, leaving her a widow. 14 November 1850, Abigail was listed on the U.S. Federal Census at Saratoga Township, Saratoga County, New York. Enumerated in this household were Lawrence H. Wilber [40 New York], Lydia [38 New York], Madison [4 New York], Franklin [2 New York], Abigail [81 New York], Bridget Pardon [26 Ireland] & George Inoman [18 New York]. Their farm is valued at $7000.2 Abigail died the 12th day of the first month 1852 at Saratoga Township, Saratoga County, New York, at age 82 years, 4 months and 12 days. She was buried there in Quaker Springs Cemetery. The inscription on her tombstone reads: Abigail Wife of Thomas Wilber Died 12. of 1. mo. 1852 Aged 83 yrs.& 12 ds.3
