Martha Jackson
F, b. circa 1678, d. 10 February 1754
Martha was born circa 1678 in Jerusalem, Hempstead Town, Queens County, Long Island, New York. She was the daughter of Colonel John Jackson and Elizabeth Seaman. Martha married Peter Titus, son of Edmund Titus and Martha Washbourne, circa 1702 in Hempstead Town, Queens County, Long Island, New York. Peter was living with his parents on the census of 1698. In later years, Martha Titus was described as follows: "Some years before her death she was helpless and kept to her bed. Her natural faculties became much impaired yet she retained a lively sense of the divine goodness and many times near her door, feeling the fresh springs Divine life too well up in her soul, she would exhort her children and others to wait upon God, that they might thereby be made sensible to the workings of Truth in their hearts which was the way through obedience there upon to find peace with God." Martha's husband, Peter, died on 23 December 1753 in the Town of Hempstead, Queens County, Long Island, New York, leaving her a widow. Martha departed this life the 10th day of the 12th month 1753 in the Town of Hempstead.
