Edward married Phillipa - Queen of England, daughter of William I - Count of Hainault and Joan of Valois (?), on 24 January 1328 in Yorkminister, York, Yorkshire, England. Edward's wife, Phillipa, died before 15 August 1369 in Windsor Castle, Windsor, leaving him a widower. Edward departed this life on Saturday, 21 June 1377 in Shene Palace, County Surrey, England, at age 64 years, 7 months and 8 days.
