Garrett Dubois

     Garrett was born on Thursday, 6 January 1774 in New Platz, Ulster County, New York. He was the son of Hendricus Dubois and Rebecca Van Wagenen. Garrett married Marie Elting on 18 December 1794. Garrett and Marie had at least on child Jacob Garrett [2/27/1801-9/07/1881] [m. Cornelia Deyo]. Garrett departed this life on Wednesday, 19 October 1814 in New Platz at age 40 years, 9 months and 13 days. He was buried there in New Platz Rural Cemetery. The inscription on his tombstone reads: Garrett Dubois who died Oct. 19, 1814 aged 40yrs.9 mo 13 days. Also Mary Dubois who died May 7 1825.¹
