Jannetje de Witt

     Jannetje was born in Ulster County, New York. She was the daughter of Tierck Claesse de Witt & Barbara Andriesse. She was christened there on 12 February 1662 in the Reformed Dutch Church.¹ Jannetje married Cornelis Swits, son of Cornelis Claessen Swits and Ariaentje Cornelissen Trommels, in New York. According to the will of Jannetje's father, Tjerck de Wittb written 4 March 1698, they had no children at the time. Jannetje's husband, Cornelis, died in 1730 in New York, leaving her a widow. Jannetje departed this life in 1744 in Kingston, Ulster County, New York.
