Lydia Cornwall1

     Lydia was born in 1803 in New York. She was the daughter of Josiah & Anna Cornwall. Lydia married Thomas Carpenter, son of Townsend Carpenter and Elizabeth Truesdell, in Horseheads, Tioga County, New York. At Lydia's family home. 17 August 1850, Lydia and her husband, Thomas, were listed on the U.S. Federal Census in Elmira Township, Chemung County, New York. Enumerated in this household were Thomas Carpenter [51 New York], his wife: Lydia [47 New York], John Smith [physician][35 New York], & Phebe Cornwall [50 New York].2 13 June 1860, Lydia and her husband Thomas were listed on the U.S. Federal Census in Bedford Township, Calhoun County, Michigan. Enumerated in this household were Thomas Carpenter [61 New York], his wife: Lydia [57 New York], & Minerva Simpson [17 Pennsylvania].3 7 June 1870, Lydia and her husband, Thomas, were listed on the U.S. Federal Census in Bedford Township. Enumerated in this household were Thomas Carpenter [70 New York] & his wife: Lydia [65 New York]. Thomas is a blacksmith.4 Lydia's husband, Thomas, died between 7 June 1870 and 29 August 1880 in Bedford Township leaving her a widow. Lydia departed this life on Sunday, 29 August 1880 in Bedford Township at age 77 years.5
