Robert fitz Richard de Clare Lord of Little Dunmow, Baron of Baynard

M, b. 1064, d. 1136
     Robert fitz Richard de was born in 1064 in Normandy, France.1 He was the son of Richard fitz Gilbert and Rohese Giffard. Robert received his titles and lands from King William I. The estates near Little Dunmow are said to have come to him after they were confiscated from Ralph Baynard. He was a steward under Kings Henry and Stephen. He also served as High Sheriff of Yorkshire. Robert married Matilda of St Liz, daughter of Simon I of St Liz 1st Earl of Northampton and Matilda de Huntington, circa 1114 in England. Robert departed this life in 1136 in County Essex, England.
