Hannah Carter1,2

     Hannah was born in 1604 in Garston, Hertfordshire, England. She was the daughter of Robert Carter and Petronilla Curle. Hannah married Robert Titus, son of Silas Titus [Tito/Tyto] II and Johane Newdyke, on 24 June 1626 in Watford, Hertfordshire, England. Hannah made her will on 14 May 1672 at Huntington, Suffolk County, Long Island, New York.

This last will and testament of Hannah Titus, being in perfict memory. I bequeath my soul to God that gave it to me, and my body to the earth, and for my estate I dispose of it as followth: I give my sonn Content my house and all my land, and out of the aforesaid house and lands I give to my sonn John tenn pounds, which my sonn Content is to pay him. And also I give to my sonn John my mare, and to my sonn EdmundI give a horse. and to my son Samuel a brown cowe and a yearlin stear and I give to Samuel wife my warming pan and to my son Abialle's wife smothing yron and to my son Content's wife my skimmer, and for what remantes of serge and cloth I have, my will is that it be equally divided among all my children and to my daughter Susanna I give my serge hood, and for all the rest of my estate within the house and without it, I give to my son Abeil and Content to equally divide among them two, and to this my will I set my hand in the presence of: Richard Williams Thomas Skidmore.3

Hannah departed this life in Huntington. Letters of Administration of her estate were granted on 1 March 1679/80 The letters of administration were granted to Content Titus of the estate of his mother's will. "Whereas Hannah Titus Late of Huntington in the East Riding of Yorkshire upon Long Island widow did in her Last Will and Testament . . .". The inventory of Hannah's estate was taken on Sunday, 24 March 1680. By the constable and overseers of the town of Huntington. They appraised her estate at Ê52 13s. 6d.3
