     John was born in Cranfield, Bedfordshire, England. He was the son of Thomas Wheeler and Ann Halsey. He was christened there on 27 February 1624/25 in the Cranfield Church. On 3 October 1635, John immigrated aboard the ship "Defiance" with his parents, from England to Massachusetts. John married Judith Turney circa 1660. John & Judith had children: Judith [1661], John [1664], Elizabeth [1667], Thomas [1669] & Mary [1671]. John's wife, Judith, died before 1673, leaving him a widower. Sometime before 1673, he had married a second time. John married 2nd Elizabeth Rowland, daughter of Henry Rowland and Rebecca (?), circa 1674 in Fairfield County, Connecticut. 32949.2 John & Elizabeth had children: Rebeca [1672], Joseph [1674], Hannah[1676], Abigail [1680], Obadiah [1682], Ann [1684] Jonathan [1687] & David/Daniel [1689]. John departed this life in Fairfield. The inventory of John's estate was taken on Wednesday, 8 March 1689/90 at Fairfield County, Connecticut, by John Burr, Ephriam Nicholls and Eliphalet Hill. The estate was appraised at 1,566 pounds.3 His will was probated on 15 March 1689/90.
