Elizabeth was born circa 1657. She was the daughter of Richard Smith. Elizabeth married John Whitney, son of Henry Whitney, on 17 March 1674/75 in Norwalk, Fairfield County, Connecticut.2 Elizabeth's husband, John, died before 11 October 1720 in Norwalk leaving her a widow. In 1725, she was a member of the First Congregational Church in Norwalk, Connecticut. Elizabeth was still living as of this date as she is mentioned in a codicil to the will of her son Joseph to provide for her. after.
