Stephen Robbins
M, b. 26 February 1750, d. 25 May 1813
Stephen was born the 26th day of the 12th month 1750. at the Town of Hempstead, Queens County, Long Island, New York. He was the son of Jeremiah & Hannah Robbins. Stephen married Miriam Seaman, daughter of Samuel Seaman and Martha Willets Valentine, in New York.1 Stephen and Miriam had children: Willet, Stephen, Samuel and Mary [m. Robert Willets]. Stephen made his will on 22 May 1813 at the Town of Oyster Bay, Queens County, Long Island, New York.
I Stephen Robbins near Jerico in the Township of Oysterbay, Queens County and State of New York, being this twenty second day the fifth month, in the year one thousand eight hundred and thirteen, weak in boy but of sound mind and memory and considering the uncertainty of this mortal life, do make and publish this my last Will and Testament in manner following to wit First I Order rand impower my Executors hereafter named and appointed to pay al my just debts and other expenses that may arise in the execution of my Will out of my Estate, Then I give and bequeath to my beloved wife Miriam Robbins two of my best beds and their full furniture and as much more of my household and kitchen furniture as will be sufficient for her to keep house in a comfortable manner, and one of my best horses and one cow and pasture for a horse and a cow if she should keep them, and six months provisions out of my store and the sum of fifty pounds, all to her for disposal, And further I give to my wife, during the time she remains my Widow, the use of five hundred pounds, and one of the best rooms in my house which she shall choose and sufficient room in one of the bedrooms up stairs for a bed to stand and room for her cloathing and firewood for her fire, should she keep house, All to be in lieu of her right of dower and not otherwise – Then I give to my daughter Mary Willets, wife of Robrt Willets, the sum of one hundred pounds and all my household furniture except what I have given to my Wife – Then I give and bequeath to my son Stephen Robbins the sum of three hundred pounds and the equal one half of all my stock of horses, horned cattle, sheep and hogs and one wagon - - And all the remainder of my Estate both real and personal of what kindsoever and whatever situate. I order and impower my Executors to sell and dispose of except the privileges given to my wife in the house as abovesaid, which is to be reserved at her discretion, And my Will is that they make sale of my property as abovesaid, as soon after my decease as may be convenient and collect the money arising fr[om such sale with all debts due to me and pay all my just debts and the legacies heresaid [two lines are cut off – the bottom line of the first page and the top line of the second page] - - - or surplus thereof I give to my three sons Samuel Robbins, Willet Robbins and Stephen Robbins - - And first I give to Willet and Stephen out of the said surplus each the sum of two hundred and sixty five pounds to make them equal TO Samuel having lent him that sum some year past, and which I leave with him, not to be collected. And my Will is that all the remainder, after th above legacies are satisfied be equally divided between my said three sons, that is to say the one third part the use of it to my son Samuel Robbins during his natural life and at his decease, to be equally divided between all his children, and to my son Willet Robbins the one third part and to my son Stephen Robbins the one third part - - - and Lastly, I Constitute and appoint my loving sons Willet Robbin and Stephen Robbins and my friend and neighbor Samuel Willis Executors of this my last Will and Testament, giving and granting unto them my full power and authority to act arbitrate, settle and finally determine al disputes differences and controversies that may arise, touching or concerning my Estate or any part thereof _____ample a manner as should have done in my lifetime - - In Witness whereof I have hereunto set my hand and Seal the day and year above written.2
Stephen departed this life on Tuesday, 25 May 1813 near Jericho in the Town of Oyster Bay at age 63 years, 2 months and 29 days.
