Thomas M. Quirk

M, b. 11 September 1837, d. 20 June 1918
     Thomas was born on Monday, 11 September 1837 at Wilmont, Annapolis, Nova Scotia, Canada. He was the son of John and Phoebe Quirk.1 On 24 March 1839, he was christened at Wilmont. Thomas married Caroline Murray Ferris, daughter of Lindley M. Ferris and Caroline Murray, on 18 November 1894 in Poughkeepsie at The Elms. 11 June 1900, Caroline and Thomas listed on the U.S. Federal Census in Poughkeepsie. Enumerated in this household were Robert M. Ferris [59 New York - July 1840] [widow], William T. [33 New York - August 1866], Mabel L. [26 New York - August 1873], Robert M. Jr. [24 New York - May 1876], Caroline M. Neave [29 New York - October 1870], Brother-in-law: Thomas M. Quirk [61 Nova Scotia - September 1838], sisters: Caroline M. Quirk [51 New York - March 1849], Mary M. Ferris [45 New York - May 1855] & servants: Joanna Macassy [45 Ireland - June 1854] & Mary Vincent [40 New York - July 1859]. Robert is a settler of estates, William is a Lifew Insurance Agent & Robert Jr. is an electrical engineer. They own the farm free and clear.2 Thomas departed this life on Thursday, 20 June 1918 in Poughkeepsie at age 80 years, 9 months and 9 days. He was buried at Poughkeepsie in the Poughkeepsie Rural Cemetery. The inscription on his tombstone reads: Thomas M. Quirk - 1838-1918.3
