Lindley Murray Ferris II
     Lindley was born on Saturday, 1 April 1837 at New York. Lindley married Martha I. Sands of New York at the New York Monthly Meeting, New York.1 Lindley's wife, Martha, died on 9 January 1880 leaving him a widower. 9 June 1880, Lindley was was listed on the U.S. Federal Census in City, County & State of New York, at 114 29th Street. Enumerated in this household were Lindley M Ferris [40 New York], David S [17 New York], an aunt? Sarah Murray [40 New York] and a servant: Catherine Hetherington [35 Ireland].2 Lindley married Agnes May Smith on 4 October 1887. Lindley departed this life on Tuesday, 12 February 1895 in New Orleans at age 57 years, 10 months and 11 days. He was shot and killed in the street by a rival he had ruined.3 He was buried in Poughkeepsie, Dutchess County, New York, in the Poughkeepsie Rural Cemetery. His Tombstone reads:Lindsey Murray Ferris Born April 1 1837 - Died February 12 1895.4
