     Francis Xavier was born circa July 1845 in Hungerford Township, Hastings County, Ontario, Canada. On on 27 September 1845, he was christened at St. Michael the Archangel Church, Bellleville, Hastings County, Ontario, Canada. His sponsors were Joseph Petty & Bridget Kelroy.1 Francis married Mary Ann Hawkins on 16 June 1873 in Madoc Township at Sacred Heart of Mary Church.2,3 Francis and his wife, Mary, were listed on the 1881 Canadian Census in Hungerford Township, Hastings County, Ontario, Canada. Enumerated in this household were Francis Merraund [31], Mary Ann [25], John Francis [7], Thomas [5], Augustus [2]. Francis Xavier Meraw was New Tag On 20 December 1884, Francis' father left him in his will 100 acres in the east 1/2 of lot 17 in the 10th concession. It was stipulation that he was made for him to provide for his mother, Mary Marrow. on 20 December 1884 at the east 1/2 of lot 17 in the 10th concession, Hungerford Township, Hastings County, Ontario, Canada.4 Francis and his wife, Mary, were listed on the 1891 Canadian Census in Hungerford Township, Hastings County, Ontario, Canada. Enumerated in this household were Francis E. [District 5, page 11, Hastings East] Francis purchased 100 acres of the south ½ and 10 acres southeast corner of North ½ of lot 14 in the 11th concession from his brother Charles for $4000.00.5 Francis and his wife, Mary, were listed on the 1901 Canadian Census in Hungerford Township, Hastings County, Ontario, Canada. [District 3, page 2, Hungerford East] Francis Meraw purchase 24 acres in the southeast corner of lot 13 of the 11th concession in Hungerford on 12 January 1903 from Arthur Alexander for $1,000.6 On 1 May 1903, Francis sold to his son, John Francis the east ½ of lot 17 concession containing 100 acres for $1,800.00, subject to a mortgage of $450.00.7 Francis Xavier Meraw was New Tag On 1 April 1910, Frank purchased 50 acres in the southwest 1/4 of Lot 14 of the 12th concession from Sarah Mary Bartlem and Charles Walker Bartlem for $3300.00. His brother Joseph took out a mortgage on this property 16 January 1912. on 1 April 1910 at the southwest 1/4 of Lot 14 in the 12th concession, Hungerford Township, Hastings County, Ontario, Canada.8 Francis departed this life on Monday, 29 April 1918 in the Village Tweed, Hungerford Twp., Hastings County, Ontario, Canada.9 Francis was laid to rest in the yard of St. Carthagh Church, Village of Tweed, Hungerford Township, Hastings County, Ontario, Canada, in grave number 216 D. His inscription reads: Francis X. Meraw [1845-1918] & wife Mary Ann Hawkins [1855-1949].10
