Mary Edese was born on Tuesday, 28 February 1871 in Hungerford Township, Hastings County, Ontario, Canada. She was the daughter of Narcisse [Nelson] Lajoie & Edese Rashotte [Rajotte]. Mary Edese Lajoie also went by the name of Edese. Mary Edese married Francis Meraw, son of Louis Trifley Meraw and Harriet Pelland dit Beausoliel, on 26 April 1892 in Village of Tweed, Hungerford Twp., Hastings County, Ontario, Canada, at St. Carthagh Church. They were married by Father J. P. Flelming.^1,2,3,4 As of 26 April 1892,her married name was Meraw.^1,2,3,4 Mary departed this life on Tuesday, 30 September 1958 in Hungerford Township, Hastings County, Ontario, Canada, at age 87 years, 7 months and 2 days. She was buried at Village of Tweed, Hungerford Township in the yard of St. Carthagh Church. In grave number 247 alongside her husband. The inscription on her stone reads Mary Edese Lashwa 1871-1958.⁵ She (an unknown value) on 12 July 2008.
