Charles was born on Monday, 4 December 1939 at Garnett, Anderson County, Kansas. He was the son of Clifford Mark McCurdy and Sylvia Irene Ashburn. Charles married Lorraine Beatrice Bishop on 27 November 1972 at Miami, Ottawa County, Oklahoma. Charles departed this life on Saturday, 10 April 2010 at Ottawa Retirement Village, Ottawa, Franklin County, Kansas, at age 70 years, 4 months and 6 days.

Charles E. "Chuck" McCurdy, 70 Williamsburg, died Saturday, April 10, 2010, at Ottawa Retirement Village in Ottawa. Graveside services will be 2 p.m. Friday at Mt. Hope Cemetery, Williamsburg.
He was born Dec. 4, 1939, in Garnett to Clifford M. amd Sylvia Irene (Ashburn) McCurdy. He lived in the Williamsbrug area most of his life, except for about 10 years living in Hutchinson.
He graduated from Williamburg High School with the class of 1959.
He worked as a machine operator for Farmland Industries in Hutchinson. He also did maintenance work at Parmalee Products following hid military service, built guard rails for Collins Brothers Construction of Williamsburg and was Service Manager at Williamsburg Co-op for several years.
He served in the U. S. Army from April 2, 1963 , to March 31, 1969, obtaining the rank of Specialist 4, receiving awards and commendations including Sharpshooter (Rifle), Expert (Rifle M-14), Good Conduct Medal, and 1st Class Gunner (3.5 RL).
He was a member of Williamsburg United Methodist Church, Williamsburg.
He married to Lorraine Beatrice Bishop Nov. 27, 1972, in Miami, Oklahoma. She preceded him in death Oct. 27,1982.
Survivors include a son, Johnny L. McCurdy, and his wife Lenice, Osawatomie; brothers, David McCurdy, Williamsburg, Jimmy McCurdy and his wife Kay, Ottawa, Billy McCurdy and his wife, Lynn, Waverly, Denny McCurdy and his wife, Barbara, Quenemo, and Dale McCurdy and his wife, Peggy, Melvern; sisters, Debbie Clark, and her husband, Jerry, LaCygne, Sharon Brown and her husband, Louis, Ottawa, and Carol Prather and her husband Donald, Richmond.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Clifford M. McCurdy and Sylvia Irene (Ashburn) McCurdy; and brothers, Tommy, Francis and Steven McCurdy.
Friends may pay their respects 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. Thursday and 8:30 a.m. to noon Friday at Denfgel & Son Mortuary, where the family will meet with friends 7 p.m. to 8 p.m. Thursday.
The family suggests memorials be made to Special Olympics and sent in care of Dengel & Son Mortuary, 235 S. Hickory St., Otawa KS 66067.
