     Ira was born on Friday, 11 May 1877 at Fremont County, Iowa. He was the son of Benjamin Peter Phillip Franklin McCurdy and Sarah Elsworth. Ira was never married and resided in Brownell after leaving his farm near Quenemo about 1914. Ira died on Tuesday, 18 May 1943 at Brownell, Warring Township, Ness County, Kansas, at age 66 years and 7 days at the home of his brother Ray.
