Catherine Maria Leggett
     Katherine was born in September 1863 at Waterford Township, Oakland County, Michigan. He was the son of Mortimer Allen Leggett and Jane Mais Whitehead. He also went by the name of Kate. She was a life long resident of Oakland County, MicHigan, always living in her childhood home with her father. She was a member of the St. John's Episcopal Church of Detroit. She never married. 17 April 1940, the U.S. Federal Census lists Katherine was residing in a rooming house at Waterford Township, Oakland County, Michigan. Enumerated in this household were Emerson T. Dill ]39 Michigan], his wife, Ester M. [37 Michigan], Barbara A. [6 Michigan], Katherine E. [9 months Michigan], lodgers: John T. Bird [68 Michigan - widow] & Katherine Leggett [77 Michigan]. Emerson was a boat builder. He completed 8th grade & Ester 1 year of college. John completed 1st year of high school. Katherine completed the 8th grade. They resided 3800 Walton Road.2 Katherine died Monday, 22 October 1945 at her family home - "The Willows", Drayton Plains, Waterford Township, Oakland County, Michigan, at age 82 years and 1 month in the same room to which she was born. Katherine was buried at Drayton Plains Cemetery, Drayton Plains, Oakland County, Michigan. Her stone reads: 1863-10/22/1945 age 82 years.
