He is buyer for an auto factory and she is a stenographer for a coal company.² 23 April 1930, Phillip and his wife, Clara, were listed on the U.S. Federal Census in Leoni Township, Jackson County, Michigan, at 298 Sutton Road. Enumerated in this household were Phillip Evenden [34 Illinois], Clara [29 Michigan], Winnifred [9 Michigan], Howard [7 Michigan], Donald [2 8/12 Michigan] & a lodger: E.W. Estey [38 Wisconsin]. They own their home valued at $4500. He was 23 when first married; she was 18. He was a clerk in the offoce of a glass factory and E. W. was a night watchman for an auto repair garage.³ Phillip departed this life on Wednesday, 31 January 1940 in Leoni Township at 138 Sutton Road at age 44 years and 2 months. He was killed when struck by an automobile on a county highway.⁴ He was buried on 4 February 1940 at Jackson in the Maxon Cemetery.
