Eleanor May Ashley Sparks

     Eleanor was born on Monday, 19 November 1906 at Montclair Township, Essex County, New Jersey. She was the daughter of Thomas A. and Mina Sparks. By 1920, her family had moved to Oyster Bay, Long Island and lived on Oyster Bay Road. Eleanor May Ashley married Jordan Lawrence Mott V, son of Jordan Lawrence Mott IV and Caroline Whitmarsh Pitkin, on 19 May 1925 in Manhattan, New York City, New York.¹ 21 April 1930, Eleanorand her husband, and her husband, Jordan were listed on the U.S. Federal Census in Manhattan, New York City, New York, at East 85 Street. Enumerated in this household were Gordon Mott [27 Massachusetts], Eleanor [23 New Jersey], Jane [3 New York], servants: Gertrude Carlson [34 Sweden][cook], Anna Nelson [34 Sweden][waitress] & Agnes Collinson [30 Canada][chamber maid]. He was 23 years old when first married; she was 19 year old. He was the manager of an iron works foundry. They are renting for $400 a month. Martin. 16 May 1940, Eleanor was listed on the U.S. Federal Census at Oyster Bay, Nassau County, New York, at Oyster Bay Road. Enumerated in this household were John S. Martin [39 Illinois], Eleanor [33 New Jersey], Jill S. [4 New York], Susan [3 New York], step-daughter: Jane Marie [14 New York] & a servant: Anna Van Breman [26 New York]. They lived at the same house in 1935. They own their home valued at $45,000.³ On 9 August 1946, Elenaor married third, Henry P. Davidson.
