They are workikng their farm; Peter is an accountant.⁴ 11 April 1930, Alice was listed on the U.S. Federal Census at Piscataway Township, Middlesex County, New Jersey, at River Road. Enumerated in this household were Alice S. Hoe [65 New York], Peter Smith [40 New York] & Ellen [30 New York]. She owns the property valued at $3000. Peter is designer for an interwoven stocking company.⁵ Alice departed this life on Tuesday, 7 September 1943 at age 85 years and 24 days. She was buried in Sleepy Hollow, Westchester County, New York, in Sleepy Hollow Cememtery. The inscription on her tombstone reads: Alice S. - wife of Edward S. Hoe - Born August 14, 1858 - Died September 7, 1943.⁶
