Enumerated in this household were Jordon L Mott [50 New York], Marianna [45 New York], Jordon L. Jr. [24 New York], daughter-in-law: Katherine J. [22 New York], Augustus W. [19 New York], son-in-law: William Olliffe [35 New York], daughter: Marie L. [26 New York], niece: Margaret S. Lasak [21 New York], servants: Theresa Graham [21 New York], Kate Clarry [23 Ireland], Mary Shugenassy [24 Ireland]. Both Jordans are working as iron Founders, Agustus is a clerk and William is a druggist.2 1920, Jordan and his wife, Katharine, were listed on the U.S. Federal Census in Manhattan at the Hotel Chatham, 33 East 48th Street. Enumerated in this household were Jordan L. Mott [62 New York], Katherine J. [60 New York] & servant: Mary Blake [37 Ireland][ladies maid]. Mary immigrated in 1888 and is an alien. Jordan is the President of th J. L. Mott Iron Works.3 13 April 1930, Jordan was was listed on the U.S. Federal Census in Manhattan, New York City, New York, at 350 Park Avenue. Enumerated in this household were Jordan L. Mott [72 New York], servants: Mary Gaul [62 Northern Ireland], Anni Gallagh [23 Northern Ireland] & niece: Mary Purth [39 New York]. He is renting for $666.66 per month.4 Jordan departed this life on Thursday, 7 January 1932 in Nelson Harbor at age 74 years, 7 months and 25 days.
Obituary - The third Jordan L. Mott died in 1932 while yachting in the Bahamas. His obituary, New York Times, 8 Jan. 1932, read in part, "Announcement was made here last night of the sudden death yesterday in Nelson Harbor, Bahamas, B. W. I., of Jordan L. Mott, former president of the J. L. Mott Iron Works, at the age of 74. His grandson, Jordan L. Mott 3d, received a cablegram stating that death was due to a sudden heart attack... Entering the family business as a young man, Mr. Mott succeeded to the presidency of the company on the death of his father in July, 1915. He retired about ten years ago..."
He was buried in Brooklyn, Kings Counfy, New York, in Green Wood Cemetery. The inscription on his tombstone reads: Jordan Lawrence Mott - May 13th 1858 - January 7th 1932.5
