     Katharine was born in 1858 at Palmyra, Wayne County, New York. She was the dauhter of the Rev. Fay H. Purdy and Caroline Hall. Katharine J. married Jordan Lawrence Mott III, son of Hon. Jordan Lawrence Mott II and Marianna Seaman, on 10 November 1879 in Manhattan, New York City, New York.1 1 June 1880, Jordan and her husband, Katharine were listed on the US Federal Census at Third Avenue, Manhattan, New York City, New York. Enumerated in this household were Jordon L Mott [50 New York], Marianna [45 New York], Jordon L. Jr. [24 New York], daughter-in-law: Katherine J. [22 New York], Augustus W. [19 New York], son-in-law: William Olliffe [35 New York], daughter: Marie L. [26 New York], niece: Margaret S. Lasak [21 New York], servants: Theresa Graham [21 New York], Kate Clarry [23 Ireland], Mary Shugenassy [24 Ireland]. Both Jordans are working as iron Founders, Agustus is a clerk and William is a druggist.2 1920, Katharineand her husband, and her husband, Jordan were listed on the U.S. Federal Census in Manhattan, New York City, New York, at the Hotel Chatham, 33 East 48th Street. Enumerated in this household were Jordan L. Mott [62 New York], Katherine J. [60 New York] & servant: Mary Blake [37 Ireland][ladies maid]. Mary immigrated in 1888 and is an alien. Jordan is the President of th J. L. Mott Iron Works.3 Katharine departed this life on Saturday, 14 May 1927 in Cannes, 14 May, at age 69 years. She was buried in Brooklyn, Kings Counfy, New York, in Green Wood Cemetery. The inscription on her tombstone reads: Katherine Jerome Purdy - wife of Jordan Lawrence Mott - Born at Palmyra, New York - Daughter of Rev. Fay H. Purdy and Caroline Hall Purdy - Died at Cannes France - May 14th 1927 - Jesus Christ the same Yesterday and Today and For Ever.
