     Paul-Leger was born on Tuesday, 3 April 1827 in Ste-Anne-de-la-Perade, Quebec, Canada. On on 4 April 1827, he was christened at Ste-Anne-de-la-Perade, Quebec, Canada. Baptism: 4 April 1827 - Paul-beger Merrant, born: the night before; son of Ambroise Merrant [farmer] & Julie Lanouet; sponsors: Paul Amyot dit Villeneuve & Marie Amyot dit Villeneuve; at Ste-Anne-de-;a-Perade. Paul-Leger Meraw was also known as Merand. Paul-Leger Meraw was also known as Mayrand. Paul-Leger married Miss (?) Gaborie before 1855 in Hungerford Township.1 Paul-Leger departed this life on Tuesday, 20 May 1856 in Hungerford Township, Hastings County, Ontario, Canada, at age 29 years, 1 month and 17 days. Paul-Leger was laid to rest in St. Carthagh Church Cemetery, Village of Tweed, Hungerford Township, Hastings County, Ontario, Canada, in the Gaborie plot 268. The inscription on his tombstone bears the date of 20 May 1856. His stone is described as a loose white marker. He is buried with his two sons, Felix 8/30/1855 & Paul 2/25/1856.2

The baptismal records of St. Michael the Archangel, Belleville, Hastings County, Ontarioshows her baptism as "2/25/1847 - Rachael, age: 2 Weeks, daugher of Felix Gabrie & Rachael Woodcock, sponsors: Marcel LaCerac & Lucy Gabrie". She is too young to have married Paul Meraw.
