Ada Bertha was born on Tuesday, 3 July 1866 in Hungerford Township, Hastings County, Ontario, Canada. Ada Bertha Meraw also went by the name of Addie. In the early 1890's, Addy went to Detroit, Michigan where she was a seamstress. She often lived with her sisters Ethel & Annie, helping them with their families. She was never married. She became a naturalized citizen on 13 September 1943.1 Ada was listed on the U.S. Federal census living with her sister in Detroit, Wayne County, Michigan.
