Raymond was born on Sunday, 29 October 1911 at Williamsburg, Franklin County, Kansas. He was the son of George W. Reed and Margaret McCurdy. Raymond married Maxine Elliott on 23 April 1934 at Ottawa, Franklin County, Kansas. Raymond was a lifelong resident of Ottawa. After finishing his education, he had a milk route from farm to creamery & was a milk plant operator. He later drove a tank wagon Fisher's Skelly Oil Company. From 1950 to 1975, he was employed by the city of Ottawa moving from boiler room forman to assistant engineer to head engineer of the Wather & Light Department. Raymond departed this life on Sunday, 27 March 1988 at the Ransom Memorial Hospital, Ottawa, Franklin County, Kansas, at age 76 years, 4 months and 27 days.
