Howard R. McCurdy
     Howard was born on Wednesday, 9 August 1911 at Pomona, Franklin County, Kansas. He was the son of George McCurdy and Mary Florilla "Flora" Brubaker. Howard married Josephine Ledom on 13 July 1946 at Paola, Miami County, Kansas. Howard served with the US Army in World War II. He worked as a heavy equipment operator for Haworth Construction for fifteen years & for nine years as superintendent for the Franklin County Highway Department. He was a member of te Calvary Baptist Church & VFW Post No. 5901. He was a resident of Ottawa most of his life. Howard died in November 1973 at his home at 929 South Maple, Ottawa, Franklin County, Kansas, at age 62 years and 2 months of a heartattack.
