Since 1946, he owned and operated Paul’s Custom Grinding, a machine and engine rebuilding shop in Denver. The business is still owned by his family. He moved to Longmont from Wheat Ridge in 1981. He was an honorary member of the Denver Mounted Police Department.
Mr. Cooper was an avid hunter and fisherman and enjoyed snowmobiling. He also enjoyed boating at Grand Lake and living on his farm in the Longmont area. He adored his grandchildren and loved spending time with them.
He is survived by his wife; a son, Gary Cooper and his wife Gigi of Broomfield; two daughters, Paula Potter of Arvada and Linda Kraskey and her husband Steven of Longmont; seven grandchildren, Tommy Potter, Tracy Croteau, Casey Sauer, Cory, Reid and Alex Cooper and Katie Kraskey; and four great-grandchildren, Sadie and Sophie Croteau, Robert Dominic Sauer and Laini Potter.
Private family services will be held at a later date. Cremation arrangements have been made with Howe Mortuary of Longmont. In lieu of flowers, the family has requested memorial contributions to the Longmont United Hospital Trust Fund, Third Floor Nursing Staff, 1380 Tulip St., Suite A, Longmont 80501. - [Daily Record, Canon City, Colordo].
