Eva was born on Tuesday, 17 April 1877 at Quenemo, Osage County, Kansas. She was the daughter of Ceburn B. Snodgrass and Anna Elizabeth McCurdy. Eva married John Franklin Hammock on 22 July 1896 at St. Paul, Madison County, Arkansas. As of 22 July 1896,her married name was Hammock. After his marriage Frank moved to Williamsburg and resided their until 1944 when he moved to Toulon, and remained there the rest of his life. Frank had retired from farming. He was a member of the Methodist Church at Williamsburg. 18 June 1900, Eva and her husband John were listed on the U.S. Federal Census at Williamsburg Township, Franklin County, Kansas. Enumerated in this household were John F. Hammick [28 Feb 1875 - 25 Missouri], Eva [7 Apr 1877 - 23 Kansas], Emma [25 Feb 1897 - 3 Kansas], Cleda H. 18 Sep 1899 - 8 mo. Kansas], mother-in-law: Anna E. Snodgrass [27 Dec 1838 - 61 Illinois]. John & Eva had been married 4 years with 2 children, both living. Anna is a widow with 1 child, 1 living.1 15 January 1920, Eva listed on the U.S. Federal Census at Williamsburg Township, Franklin County, Kansas. Enumerated in this household were Frank Hannock [44 Missouri], his wife: Eva [42 Kansas], Annie [15 Kansas], Mae [12 Kansas] & mother-in-law: Annie Snodgrass [81 Illinois - widow]. He is a general farmer.2 18 April 1930, Eva and her husband John were listed on the U.S. Federal Census at Williamsburg Township, Franklin County, Kansas. Enumerated in this household were Frank Hannick [55 Missouri], his wife: Eva [52 Kansas], son-in-law: Elmer Jackson [26 Illinois], daughter: Mae [22 Kansas], grandson: Elmer Jr. [2 7/12 Kansas], newphew: Frank Snodgrass [18 Oklahoma]. Frank was 21 years old when first married and Eva was 19 years old. Elmer was 23 years old when first married and Mae was 19 years old.3 3 April 1940, Eva and her husband John were listed on the U.S. Federal Census at Williamsburg, Franklin County, Kansas. Enumerated in this household were Frank Hammock [65 Missouri], his wife: Eva [62 Kansas] grand nephew: Charles Price [25 Kansas] & granddaughter: Dorothy Thornburgh [15 Kansas]. Frank is a farmer. Charles is a plasterer making $500. They are renting their home for $3.00 per month.4 Eva departed this life on Thursday, 17 October 1963 at Quenemo, Osage County, Kansas, at age 86 years and 6 months.

OBITUARY: Mrs. Eva Vie Hammock, 86, died Thursday morning at the home of her daughter, Mrs. Earl Whitcher, Quenemo, where she had been living the past eight months.
Services will be Sunday at 2:30 p.m. in Williamsburg Methodist Church lf which she was a member. Burial will be in Mt Hope Cemetery, Williamsburg. Friends may call at the Shaffer Mortruary, Lyndon, Friday until noon Sunday.
Mrs. Hammond was born near Quenemo, April 17, 1877. On July 22, 1896, she was married in Arkansas to Frank Hammock who died Feb. 4.
Surviving besides Mrs. Whitcher are two other daughters, Mrs. Emma Thornbrugh, Quenemo; and Mrs. Mae Jackson, Cold Valley, Ill; 17 grandchildren, 49 great-grandchildren and 10 great great-grandchildren. Eva was laid to rest on 20 October 1963 in the Mount Hope Cemetery, Williamsburg, Franklin County, Kansas.5 In 1944, the family moved to Illinois, Eva went by passenger train & Frank rode in a freight car with their household goods & farm animals. After John's death, Eva resided in Quenemo, Kansas with her daughter Annie Whitcher.
