John Francis Reid

     John was born on Sunday, 2 July 1899 at Norcatur, Lincoln Township, Decatur County, Kansas. He was the son of Louis Dolphus & Anna Mary Reid.¹ John also went by the name of Frank. John Francis Reid was also known as Charles. John married Bertha Pearl M. McCurdy, daughter of Charles Melville McCurdy and Florence Irene Stimmell, circa 1924. 2 April 1930, John listed on the U.S. Federal Census at District 9, Cedar Vale, Chautaugua County, Kansas. Enumerated in this household were Charles F. Reed [30 Kasas], his wife: Bertha P. [24 Kansas] & Kenneth L. [4 Kansas]. He was 25 when first married & she was 19 years. He is a salesma for an auto shop.² 18 April 1940, John and his wife, Bertha, were listed on the U.S. Federal Census at Collinsville, Tulsa County, Oklahoma. Enumerated in this household were Charles F. Reed [40 Kansas], his wife: Pearl [34 Kansas], Kenneth L. [14 Kansas]. Charles completed 1 year of high school & Pearl had 4 years of high school. They are renting their house for $15.00 per month. He is manager of a retal parts supply.³ John's wife, Bertha, died on 21 May 1976 in Oklahoma at age 70 years, 5 months and 9 days, leaving him a widower.⁴ John departed this life in 1978 at Oklahoma at age 78 years.
