     William was born on Saturday, 15 January 1870 at 566 Third Street, Detroit, Wayne County, Michigan, at 9:00 am. He was the son of William Haight Leggett and Anna Beardslee. He also went by the name of Willie. Willie died on Friday, 22 March 1878 at Detroit, Wayne County, Michigan, at age 8 years, 2 months and 7 days of dropsy.2 William was buried at Sashabaw Cemetery, Independence Township, Oakland County, Michigan, beside his brother, Valentine & near his Beardslee grandparents. The grave marker is a small square stone marked "Willie L." with no other information. Sometime after his burial, his mother had his grave opened & his body had a veil of moss covering it.
