Grace Estelle Frue

Grace was born on Sunday, 27 September 1868 at Houghton, Houghton County, Michigan. She was the daughter of William Bell Frue and Helen Lucretia Adams. Grace Estelle married John Wheeler Leggett, son of William Haight Leggett and Anna Beardslee, on 28 December 1892 in Detroit, Wayne County, Michigan.1 1 June 1900, Graceand her husband, John were listed on the U.S. Federal Census in Detroit, Wayne County, Michigan, at 27 Bagg Street. Enumerated in this household were John Wheeler Leggett [ 35 Michigan - Juluy 1864], Grace [33 Michigan - August 1866], Willimina [8 Michigan - July 1892], servants: Elizabeth Pearson 44 Canada - August 1855] & Elizabeth Smith [25 England - May 1875]. They have been married 12 years with one child, living. He is a real estate agent . They own their home free and clear.2 In 1906, the family moved to Europe with their principal residence being in Munich Germany. With tensions building and war eminent, the family moved to Switzerland in 1915 and remained there during the war years. In 1920, the family moved to France. Grace departed this life before 13 September 1944 in Santa Barbara, Santa Barbara County, California.3
