Marie-Anne Metru

F, b. circa 1656, d. 26 March 1731
     Marie-Anne was born circa 1656. She was the daughter of Claude Metru & Jeanne Crissot.1 In June 1671, Marie-Anne left her home in Paris, leaving from the port of La Rochelle aboard the ship, "St-Jean-Baptiste", bound for Canada. They arrived at Quebec the 15th of August as a "Fille de Roi". She brought with her a dowry of 500 livres of which 100 livres came from the King..2 Marie-Anne married Jacques Samson, son of Toussaint Samson and Catherine Chevalier, on 26 November 1671 in ville de Quebec, Quebec, Canada, at the Basilica of Notre Dame.3 1681, Marie-Anne and her husband, Jacques, were listed on the Canadian Census in Comte-de-Levis, Quebec, Canada. Enumerated in this household were Jacques Samson [34 years], Marie Metru [25 years], Jean [9 years], Marie [8 years], Ignace [5 years], Charles-Louis [2 years] and servants: Olive [17 years] & Jean [24 years].4 Marie-Anne's husband, Jacques, died on 3 May 1699 in Pointe-de-Levy, Lauzon, Levis County, Quebec, Canada, leaving her a widow. She married second on 24 November 1710, Claude Philippeu. He left Marie-Anne a widow on 27 February 1713. Marie-Anne departed this life on Monday, 26 March 1731 in Pointe-de-Levy, Lauzon. She was buried there in the cemetery of St-Joseph on Tuesday, 27 March 1731.5
