Daniel Ambrosier

M, b. 12 August 1842, d. 8 January 1935
     Daniel was born on Friday, 12 August 1842 in Ohio. Daniel served in the Civil War under General Sheridan. He was wounded in the Battle of Cedar Creek & taken prisoner in Andersonville. He & Betsy farmed in Crawford County for eighteen years before stricking out for new lands in Iowa. Daniel married Elizabeth Bowerman, daughter of Peter Bowerman and Nancy Anna Shaffstall, on 8 October 1868 in Crawford County, Ohio.1 Daniel & Betsey had children: James Porter [12/29/1869-7/22/1942][m. 11/24/1897 Julia Foley & 2nd. 1906 Bertha C.], Charles [2/05/1872-6/13/1966][m. Emma Cooper], Anna Eliza [5/13/1874-5/09/1964][m. 4/03/1903 John Minor Havely], Eva Josephine [7/01/1876-2/17/1970][m. 1/14/1895 William Woolhums], Julia Catherine [4/25/1877-5/01/1960][m. 6/04/1898 Herbert Henry Dufty], Amy Lou [5/01/1887/12/1969][m. 12/04/1901 Dennis Benedict "Ben" Foley] & Homer [5/05/1888-9/05/1968][m. 6/18/1913 Cora Woods]. 30 July 1870, Daniel and his wife, Elizabeth, were listed on the U.S. Federal Census in Sandusky Township, Crawford County, Ohio. [5/12 Ohio].2 14 June 1880, Daniel and his wife, Elizabeth, were listed on the U.S. Federal Census in Sandusky Township. Enumerated in this household were Daniel Ambrosier [36 Ohio], his wife: Lizzie [35 Ohio], children: James Peter [10 Ohio], Charles [8 Ohio], Anna [6 Ohio], Eva [3 Ohio] & Julia C. [1 Ohio].3 6 June 1900, Daniel and his wife, Elizabeth, were listed on the U.S. Federal Census in Monroe Township, Ringgold County, Iowa. Enumerated in this household were Daniel Ambrosier [57 Ohio - August 1842], his wife: Lizzie [53 Ohio - September 1845]; children: Amy [17 Ohio - May 1883] & Homer [11 Iowa - May 1889]. They had been married 32 years with 7 children, all living. He was a farmer.4 5 April 1910, Daniel and his wife, Elizabeth, were listed on the U.S. Federal Census in Athens Township, Ringgold County, Iowa. Enumerated in this household were Daniel Ambrosier [67 Ohio], his wife: Elizabeth [64 Ohio]. They have been married 41 years with 7 children, all living.5 Daniel's wife, Elizabeth, died on 4 July 1920 in Kellerton, Ringgold County, Iowa, leaving him a widower. Daniel departed this life on Tuesday, 8 January 1935 in Cicerrito, Contra Coasta County, California, at age 92 years, 4 months and 27 days. He was buried at Kellerton in the Maple Row Cemetery.
