     Thomas was born circa 1739 in the Town of Southold, Suffolk County, Long Island, New York. Thomas married Elizabeth Reeve in April 1766. Thomas married Mary Overton on 4 July 1773. Thomas made his will on 22 March 1801 at the Town of Southold, Suffolk County, Long Island, New York. He mentions his wife, Mary and children: Jonathan4 and Nathaniel, to whom he leaves, jointly, his house and lot of land where it stands, and also four acres of the west part of his lot. Asa, to whom he gives the remainder of the lot and one-half of his grist mill, leaving wife the other half. Mary, unmarried, and Betty, "if she lives to be a widow.

Thomas departed this life. His will was probated on 17 July 1804.

He was married first to Elizabeth Reeve in April 1766; she died June 4, 1771 (REF. 11 and 12). He was married second to Mary Overton on July 4, 1773. Thomas Mapes died May 9, 1803. Children: onathan4, died when about 30,unmarried; Nathaniel, died in the West Indies, unmarried;      Mary, married Anannias Conkling and lived in Orange Co., N.Y. Betsey, married David Davis; Thomas. married Martha Tuthill, daughter of Samuel Tuthill of Cutohogue; Asa, married Harriet Hubbard,.daughter of Thomas Hubbard of Mattituok;      Caleb, married Harriet _______; Had: Elias and others. (Lived in Rochester, N.Y.); James, perished on Long Island Sound in a great'storm about 1810. Unmarried.
