John married Phila Ann Townsend, daughter of Samuel Townsend and Asenath Badgley, on 20 March 1860 in Iosco Township, Livingston County, Michigan. Phila's. The family resided in Iosco Township, Livingston County, Michigan. 20 June 1860, John and his wife, Phila, were listed on the U.S. Federal Census in Iosco Township, Livingston County, Michigan.
