Eliza Jacoby

     Eliza was born in 1821 in Pennsylvania. Eliza married William J. Beery, son of Jacob Beery and Nancy Geil, on 16 October 1844 in Wyandot County, Ohio. William & Eliza had children: Susan Clarinda [4/04/1847-8/29/1892][m. George Loomis], George W. [9/10/1849-9/23/1885][m. , William J. [11/02/1850-10/25/1865]. Henry F. [4/28/1853-1895][m. Sarah A. Henry], Harriett J. [11/28/1855], John S. [9/10/1856][m. Minnie M. Buck], Isaac Emanuel [4/01/1858-1/18/1878][m. Hattie Coldwell] & Eliza Ellen [3/05/1863-12/18/1887]. 6 August 1850, Eliza and her husband, William, were listed on the U.S. Federal Census in McCutchinsville, Tymochtee Township, Wyandot County, Ohio. Enumerated in this household were William Beery [34 Ohio], his wife: Eliza [28 Ohio], children: Susan [3 Ohio] & George [10/12 Ohio].¹ The family removed to Gratiot County, Michigan in 1866 and settled in Pine River Township, where they remained about two years. They returned then to Ohio, settling in Wyandot County where they spent the remainder of their lives. William was a minister. 30 July 1870, Eliza listed on the U.S. Federal Census in Tymochtee Township. Enumerated in this household were William Beery [55 Ohio], his wife: Eliza [48 Pennsylvania], children: George W. [20 Ohio], Susan [23 Ohio], Henry [17 Ohio], Harriett [15 Ohio], John [14 Ohio], Emanuel [12 Ohio], Eliza E. [8 Ohio], & Lettie [4 Ohio]. He is a farm laborer.² Eliza's husband, William, died on 18 January 1878 in Muir, Ionia County, Michigan, leaving her a widow. Eliza departed this life on Saturday, 20 December 1902 in Tymochtee Township at age 81 years. She was buried there in Bibler Cemetery.³
