     Martha was born circa 1649 in Town of Hempstead, Long Island, New Netherlands. Martha married Nathaniel Coles, son of Robert Coles and Mary Hawkhurst, on 30 August 1667 in Rhode Island. ""Nathaniel Cole, late of Warwicke, now an inhabitant of Oyster Bay on Long Island, in ye County of Yorke. in America, and Martha Jackson, off Hempstead, in ye same county, were joyned together in marriage by Capt. John Green, General Assistant of the Colony of Rhode Island, and Providence Ph:.ntations, or kings province. They having been lawfully published in ye aforesaid town of Warwicke before their intermarriage."1 Martha departed this life on Monday, 17 September 1668 at the Town of Hempstead, Queens County, Long Island, New York, shortly after the birth of her son.
