He removed from Dexter between 1860 & 1880 to Ionia County, & then to Greenville, Michigan. He is noted as purchasing property in Otisco Township, Ionia County on 27 January 1865 for $3000. SW 1/4 Sec. 8. George & Hellen had children: Mary Elizabeth [1843], Susan Maria [1845], Hellen Amanda [1847], Catherine Jane [8/23/1850-2/0p4/1902] [m. Benjamin Briggs & 2nd. George Patrick], Ida Marian [1853], George David [5/29/1855-1/04/1936] [m. Pauline Walters], William Benjamin [1858], Belle Coleman [8/17/1864-7/14/1907], Myrthle Lena & Fredrick James [1870] [m. Grace L. Smalley]. 18 August 1850, George and his wife, Hellen, were listed on the U.S. Federal Census in Dexter Township, Washtenaw County, Michigan. Enumerated in this household were George Howell [29 New Jersey $2000], his wife: Helen [24 New York], children: Mary [7 Michigan], Susan M. [5 Michigan], Helen A. [3 Michigan] & Catherine J. [3 months Michigan].3 15 August 1860, George and his wife, Hellen, were listed on the U.S. Federal Census in Dexter Township. Enumerated in this household were George Howell [38 New Jersey $4700], his wife: Ellen [35 New York], children: Mary [16 Michigan], Susan [14 Michigan], Ellen [12 Michigan], Catherine [9 Michigan], Ida M. [7 Michigan], George D. [5 Michigan], William B. [2 Michigan], and Catherine Coleman [23 Michigan].4 10 June 1880, George and his wife, Hellen, were listed on the U.S. Federal Census in Greenville, Montcalm County, Michigan, at Lafayette Street. Enumerated in this household were George Howell [56 New Jersey NY & NY], his wife: Helen [54 New York England & Ireland], Belle C. [18 Michigan clerk], & Fredrick J. [10 Michigan].5 George's wife, Hellen, died on 5 August 1895 in Greenville leaving him a widower.6 George died on Saturday, 21 January 1899 in Greenville at age 76 years, 10 months and 27 days of natural causes.7 He was buried there in the Forest Home Cemetery on Monday, 23 January 1899.8
