Johann Jacob Haag

     Johann Jacob was born on Saturday, 8 May 1784 in Tulpehocken Township, Berks County, Pennsylvania. On 1 June 1784, he was christened in Rehreersburg, Berks County, Pennsylvania, at Altalaha Lutheran Church. Christening records note his parents: George Michael Haag & Catharina & his sponsors: Jacob Saladye & Susan Kernin.¹ Johann married Elizabeth Catherine Hoffman in 1805. Philip Harrison Eisenhuth], Daniel & Fanny. 12 September 1850, Johann was listed on the U.S. Federal Census in Tulpehocken Township, Berks County, Pennsylvania. Enumerated in this household were John Haag [67 Pennsylvania] & Madalena [60 Pennsylvania]. He was a farmer with property valued at $12,080.² Johann departed this life in 1860 in Jefferson County, Pennsylvania, at age 75 years. He was buried at Roseville, Jefferson County, Pennsylvania, in Roseville Berthel Cemetery. The inscription on his tombstone reads: Haugh - Johan Jacob - 1784 - 1860 - Elizabeth - 1782 - 1860.³ Letters of Administration of his estate were granted on 18 April 1860.
